Online TMX editor
Open a .tmx translation memory in your browser and edit it in a bilingual grid. Find empty targets, tag mismatches and duplicates, replace text in the target only and save it back as TMX — nothing to install, and the file never leaves your computer.
Illustration: how the editor flags problems in a machine-manual memory (English → German).
What it does
Everything you need to clean up a translation memory
Bilingual grid
Source and target side by side. Pick any two languages from a multilingual memory, swap them and edit either side in place. One click copies the source into the target.
Checks that find the problems
Filter units with an empty target, a target identical to the source, a tag mismatch or a duplicate source — or just the ones you edited. A counter shows how much is translated.
Search and replace
Search source and target at once. Replace runs in the target language only, so the source is never touched. Sort by file order or alphabetically.
Tags kept intact
Inline tags (ph, bpt, ept, it, hi) appear as {1} {2} placeholders and are written back exactly as they were.
Notes, properties, header
Edit the note and prop values of each unit and the TMX header — srclang, adminlang, segtype, creation tool and more.
Save as TMX or CSV
Add, duplicate or delete units, with undo. Save the result as TMX 1.4b in UTF-8, or export a CSV to review in Excel.
Privacy
Your memory never leaves your computer
The editor is a page that runs in your browser. Opening, editing and saving all happen locally — there is no upload and no copy of your translation memory on a server. Handy for client memories you are not allowed to upload to third-party services.

FAQ
Questions about TMX files
What is a TMX file?
TMX (Translation Memory eXchange) is an XML format for moving translation memories between CAT tools such as Trados, memoQ, Phrase and OmegaT. Each translation unit holds the same sentence in two or more languages, plus optional notes and properties.
How do I open a TMX file without Trados?
In Trados Studio a .tmx file is normally imported into an .sdltm memory rather than edited directly, and a text editor only shows raw XML. Here you drop the .tmx file into the browser and it opens as a bilingual grid you can search, filter and edit.
Can I find and replace text only in the target language?
Yes. Search looks through both source and target, but Replace works on the target language only, so the source segments stay untouched.
Is my translation memory uploaded anywhere?
No. The editor runs entirely in your browser: the file is read, edited and saved on your own computer and is never sent to a server.
Will inline tags survive editing?
Yes. Inline tags (ph, bpt, ept, it, hi) are shown as numbered placeholders such as {1} and {2} and written back unchanged when you save. Units where the target is missing a tag from the source are flagged.
Can I edit a memory with more than two languages?
Yes. Pick any two languages from the file to show side by side and swap them when needed. The other languages, notes and properties stay in the file when you save.
Do I need an API key?
No. The TMX editor works without one. Your own API key is only needed for machine translation in the document translator.
How much does it cost?
The first 30 days are free and need no card. After that it is €4 a month for all four tools — document translator, alignment, TMX editor and TMX merge — and you can cancel any time.
