Translate Word, Excel and PowerPoint with TMX + AI
Open a .docx, .xlsx or .pptx file. Sentences your TMX memory already knows are filled in from it, and only the rest goes to the AI model — with your glossary, surrounding sentences as context and your own Anthropic API key. You review every sentence and download the document with its formatting intact.
Illustration: every sentence with its origin — reused from the memory, a fuzzy match or translated by the model with the glossary term enforced. Any of them can be rewritten before download.
What it does
Machine translation that respects your memory and terminology
Memory first
Exact and close matches from your TMX memory are applied at the threshold you set; weaker matches are passed to the model as reference. Only new text is machine-translated.
Glossary with forbidden terms
Load a glossary from Excel or CSV. Approved terms go with every batch that contains them, and forbidden variants tell the model what never to write.
Formatting kept
Bold and italic inside sentences carry over in Word. Slide text, tables and chart labels are translated in PowerPoint. In Excel, formulas, sheet names and defined names stay untouched.
Your own API key
Translation runs on Claude models through your own Anthropic API key, so you pay Anthropic directly for what you use — no credits and no per-word markup.
Review before download
Every sentence appears next to its translation with its origin — memory, fuzzy match or model — and can be rewritten before you download the file.
Your memory keeps growing
Write the new pairs back into a TMX increment in your memory folder or download them as .tmx, plus a CSV report of every segment.
Privacy
The document stays in your browser
The file is opened and rebuilt in your browser and is never uploaded, and matching against the memory runs offline. Only the sentences that need machine translation — with a few surrounding sentences, matching glossary terms and memory matches as context — go straight from your browser to Anthropic’s API. aitranslator.cloud never sees them.
How it works
From original to translated document in three steps
- 01
Create an account
Sign up with your email — the 30-day trial needs no card. For the AI step you also need an Anthropic API key.
- 02
Load and match
Open the document, add your TMX memory and glossary, and match the text against the memory — offline.
- 03
Translate, review, download
Let the model fill in the rest, check every sentence and download the translated document.
FAQ
Questions about translating documents
How do I translate a Word document and keep the formatting?
Open the .docx in the translator. Paragraphs are split into sentences, and bold and italic inside them carry over to the translation, so the downloaded file keeps its layout. Sentences that contain a link or a field are written without their inner formatting, and the log tells you how many.
Can I translate an Excel file without breaking formulas?
Yes. Cell texts, text boxes and chart labels are translated, while formulas, sheet names and defined names stay as they are, so calculations keep working.
Why use a translation memory with AI translation?
Sentences you have translated before come back exactly as approved, without paying for them again. The model only handles new text, and close matches from the memory steer it towards your earlier wording.
How does the glossary work?
Load an .xlsx or .csv glossary with a column for each language; optional columns hold forbidden variants and notes. Terms that occur in the text are sent with the batch, so the model follows your terminology. A sample glossary is available in the tool.
Which AI model is used, and what does it cost?
Claude models from Anthropic — you pick the model and use your own API key, so Anthropic bills you directly for the tokens. Prompt caching and per-batch glossary filtering help keep that cost down.
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
No. The document is opened and rebuilt in your browser. Only the sentences sent for machine translation, with a little context, go directly to Anthropic’s API under your key — they never pass through aitranslator.cloud.
Which languages can I translate?
You set the source and target language by code, for example en, de or cs-CZ. The memory and the glossary are matched on those codes, and the model can translate between most widely used languages.
How much does it cost?
The first 30 days are free and need no card. After that it is €4 a month for all four tools — document translator, alignment, TMX editor and TMX merge — and you can cancel any time. AI usage is billed separately by Anthropic to your own API key.

One plan with all four tools: the TMX editor, TMX merge, document alignment and the document translator. The trial needs no card and you can cancel any time.
